If you want to watch those Japanese cars being wide bodykitted and fitted with screaming high rev engines, the Super GT is the right place to be!

Super GT is Japan's premier racing event which held yearly. The races are done on some of the Japan's famous racing circuits such as Suzuka, Fuji Speedway, Motegi etc. Besides Japan, the Super GT is also held in Sepang Circuit, Malaysia... the one and only oversea race in the Super GT calendar.

Japanese car makers used to show off their highly tuned supercars and put head-to-head among each other to create a thrilling atmosphere... not only the drivers but the spectators! And not to forget, one of the hawt features in Super GT, the hawt babes!!!

First Super GT (formerly known as Japanese GT Championship - JGTC) car from my collection - the 2003 Raybrig NSX #100 from Autoart. Details are great, but it's a sealed body model.

When we talk about rally cars, they must be tough and rough... drivers have to cooperate with their co-drivers and run their cars on straight gravel roads at more than 200km/h... this is WRC (World Rally Championship), one of the most exciting events in the rally calendar. WRC has been getting even more interesting this season... with Kimi Raikkonen joining in the fun... but that's on the drivers' side. On the manufacturer's side, it's just Citroen vs Ford... hmmm...

The first WRC model to be posted here is the 2002 Ford Focus piloted by the legendary Colin McRae with Nicky Grist as the co-driver. This is the Rallye Monte Carlo version produced by Autoart.

In my previous post, I mentioned that I love tuned cars since they look more menacing and aggressive. However, in certain circumstances, some cars don't have to be tuned and they are already good lookers... such as this Aston Martin DB9. It does look good from every angle and create a sense of sexiness to our eyes.

It will be great if Minichamps includes windows for the car...

Nismo 350z S-Tune - Autoart

I like to collect tuned cars. Whenever there is a Skyline, I will go for the GTR... whenever there's a 5 Series, I will take the M5... whenever there is a Lancer, I will go for the Evo etc. Seldom pick the stock version though, unless they are real supercars such as the Prancing Horses or the Raging Bulls.

Same goes to this 350z... the added Nismo accessories, liveries and wheels turn the car into an S-Tune version. Compared to the stock version, the S-Tune does look meaner and cooler... which is why I like tuned cars.

Started my American car collection when I purchased this Corvette Z06... The Z06 is available through Autoart and Hotwheels diecast makers. Chose the Hotwheels version and it does look cool in yellow!

Whenever a Honda is badged with a Type R, it's gonna be white, high spoiler and fast. The Integra DC5 looks just the same as it's turned into a Type R. Autoart released 3 colors (white, black & blue) for the Integra Type R and of coz, I will definitely prefer the white one!

Ferrari F430 - Hotwheels

Hotwheels carries the license in manufacturing a huge range of Ferrari cars. Some of the great Ferrari masterpieces include the Enzo (which was posted earlier), 599 GTB, 360 Modena, FXX, Superamerica etc. The model being posted here is the F430... The scarlet coupe is known best for its aggressive look and magnificent handling capability.

'The Ferrari F430 derives its power from a mid-mounted, 4.3-liter V8 engine. Its 483 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque is sent to the rear wheels through either a traditional six-speed manual or Ferrari's electrohydraulic F1-style transmission controlled by paddle shifters. The F430 also has an electronically controlled "E-diff" rear differential that helps to improve acceleration and vehicle balance. At full gallop, the F430 can hit 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds and tops out just shy of 200 mph. F1 - Ferrari F2007 - Kimi Raikkonen - Hotwheels Racing

2007 was a great year for Kimi. First of all, the "Iceman" turned red when he shifted from McLaren Mercedes to Scuderia Ferrari, which most F1 drivers wish to join. Secondly, he became the 2007 Formula One world champion after joining Ferrari, which took him 9 seasons to earn a championship title. He is a cool guy for sure (that's why he is called Iceman)... just that whenever he tries to speak, there is never a comma or full stop...

The F2007 has a different look compared to the previous models due to the departure of Vodafone sponsorship to McLaren Mercedes. Therefore the whole car is very very very RED... During the season, the car changed body color from solid red to metallic red. As a result, the metallic red F2007 became a much stunning looker! Hotwheels does produce that version but due to my impatience, I got the solid red version...

F1 - All Time Pole Positions - Michael Schumacher - Hotwheels Racing Limited Edition

F1 fans will definitely relate Michael Schumacher to Ferrari since he had contributed a lot to the team during his previous career as a professional Formula One driver. The 7 times F1 world champion has been nicknamed the King of Rain due to his magnificient driving skills in wet conditions.

As an F1 collector (not a Schumi fan though), at least ONE Schumi's limited edition model is compulsory! Therefore I got myself this All Time Pole Positions of Michael Schumacher, commemorating his 66 pole positions from different Grand Prix around the world. This model is limited to 6666 pieces worldwide. Hotwheels has mounted the car on a brushed aluminium base which records his pole position information such as countries and dates. Some interesting features include the no.1 finger posing from Schumi figure and debri effects around the car model.

Those were the glory days when Michael was The Red Baron before he retired after 2006 season. And now, he makes a comeback and is ready for the 2010 season... in a different team - Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team.

No more Red Baron... White Knight perhaps?

F1 - Ferrari 248F1 - Felipe Massa - Hotwheels Racing

Let's go RED again! This is the Ferrari 248F1 model driven by Felipe Massa in 2006. I guess the 248 stands for 2.4 litre V8 engine capacity on the car. This is Massa's first season with Ferrari after driving for Sauber Petronas previously. He must have undergone some great challenges and stress coz his team mate is the one and only... Michael Schumacher! So who's gonna beat who now? You know the drill...

Anyway, as for the car model itself, it looks great! Hotwheels did a decent job on the Ferrari F1 car... However, certain decals such as the alcohol and cigarettes sponsors are not allowed to attach as liveries. So certain parts of the car are white, where the Marlboro/barcode liveries are supposed to be at... thus making the car look kinda plain... The 248F1 is a pretty unique looking car especially on the side mirrors. From a certain angle you might feel that Massa is holding his hand up but actually it's the side mirror doing the trick!

'Michael won only one race – at Indianapolis, where the Michelin shod runners, fearing that their tyres would not stand up to the demands of the circuit, pulled into the pits after the warm up lap. Another red from my collection is the Ferrari F2004 driven by Rubens Barrichello.

Hotwheels is the only diecast maker which produces Ferrari Formula One models in 1/18 scale. Rubens' diecast model is not as popular as Schumacher's during that time... but I'm not too sure if the value will go up in times to come for this Ferrari though... *hmmm*

Ferrari Enzo - Hotwheels

Chinese New Year is just around the corner... therefore nothing seems to be better than posting a red diecast model. When thinking of a red car, I will relate it to something fast and symbolic (no no no... not the red angpows lar!), which naturally connects me to the Prancing Horse.

In conjunction with the Tiger New Year, here is my collection of a red Ferrari Enzo from Hotwheels. There are quite a few diecast makers which produce the Enzo, namely Amalgam, Kyosho, BBR, Hotwheels and Maisto. Unfortunately, due to my wallet constraint and market availability, I can only afford a Hotwheels model. No doubt, Amalgam, BBR and Kyosho versions are damn high in quality... so do the prices!!!

Hotwheels produces a quite decent Enzo, consider that it's a reasonably priced diecast model. Everything is ok and every angle just looks like an Enzo... just that the engine cover is made of plastic instead of diecast metal. Despite the plastic engine cover, the weight is still quite heavy though.

There will be more reds to come for sure... teaser first!

INITIAL D SERIES (Part Finale) - Project D

There goes my entire Initial D collection, not a huge one but so far so good for me... here you can see the comparison between the scale sizes of Hotworks Racing models (the AE86 & FD3S) and Jada Toys model (FC3S). Personally I think Hotworks Racing produces a standard 1/24 scale size model while Jada Toys' 1/24 scale standard is slightly being enlarged.

INITIAL D SERIES (Part III) - Mazda RX-7 FC3S - Jada Toys

After reviewing Keisuke's FD3S, here's the review of his older brother's drifter - this is Ryosuke Takahashi's RX-7 FC3S. As you can see, my previous Initial D collection is sourced from Hotworks Racing, but this white FC3S is manufactured by Jada Toys due to the limited productivity of Hotworks Racing on Initial D models.

Jada Toys also possesses the license in producing quite a number of Initial D models including the R32, FD3S and the ever popular AE86. However, quality is not as good as those from Hotworks Racing... Another problem from Jada Toys is that the scale size is totally out of scale! The size of Jada Toys car models is usually larger compared to other diecast models no matter it's a 1/18 scale or 1/24 scale, making the cars look like giant when being displayed with other car models.

But what can I do? I have no choice but to choose Jada Toys' version if I am to collect Ryosuke's FC3S. As far as I am concerned, Jada Toys is the only maker which produces Ryosuke's car in 1/24 scale size. Previously, Hotworks Racing did announce that they will produce their version of FC3S, but right until now it seems that everything has just become silent.

Anyway, I shall stop the crap and start revealing shots of the cool guy Ryosuke's car.

When I first saw the engine bay upon purchasing the model, I was like FFFUUUUUUUUU...!!! Since when Ryosuke's engine has turned into chrome??? @_@

Part II of my Initial D collection series reviews the yellow Mazda RX-7 FD3S driven by Keisuke Takahashi, a member of the Redsuns Team.

Hotworks Racing delivered a fine quality craftsmanship on the RX-7 despite the 1/24 scale size. Except for the bonnet, the doors and trunk are not openable... but it's tunable!

INITIAL D SERIES (Part I) - Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 - Hotworks Racing

Anyone who is interested in drifting should know the existence of a popular Japanese manga from Shuichi Shigeno - Initial D. I'm not a fan of manga so chose to watch the anime series instead, ended up going crazy for Initial D. Although it's an animation, I find that the story and action are pretty realistic... perhaps the author used real-life vehicles to deliver the story... and I have so much respect for these vehicles whenever I see them on the roads!

Gonna begin my Initial D collection series with this famous tofu car driven by Takumi Fujiwara - the AE86. This is a 1/24 scale diecast model from Hotworks Racing as I couldn't find a proper 1/18 scale Initial D model at that time. Since it's from Hotworks Racing, expect changable parts from a normal Trueno to the Initial D tuned version. The image below shows the differences between a normal Trueno and Takumi's car (Series 1 & 2) after conversion.

Diecasting is not about purchasing a metal bodied model car and displaying it for viewing pleasure. Hotworks Racing must have taken this point into consideration, that's why they come out with a "tune it yourself" concept which you can switch bodykits, wheels, interior, engine, and some bits and pieces for the diecast model.

Hotworks Racing mainly produces tuned diecast models especially in the D1 Grand Prix Series, mostly in 1/24 scale and 1/64 scale. More info can be found here http://www.hotworksracing.com/die-cast/

The 911 Turbo which I'm collecting is an 1/18 scale diecast. Most of the parts are 'tunable' so diecasting will never be the same again with Hotworks Racing! Some before and after photos showing a normal 911 Turbo turns into a Techart monster. Cheers!

LET THE DIECASTING BEGIN! Started my diecast car collection in 2006 when I purchased my first 1/18 scale diecast model - the Renault R25 Formula One car driven by Giancarlo Fisichella. Initially I was planning to collect Formula One cars only, but the variety of diecast car models is too wide and I couldn't resist the strong temptation since I like to collect miniature cars. So my collection keeps growing and growing until I need to purchase extra cabinet to display these cars... plan to get another new cabinet this year though.

Anyway, back to the point, I intended to get Alonso's R25 (coz he was the 2005 world champion at that time), unfortunately it was only available in limited edition and my wallet didn't allow me to get that so I ended up in getting Fisichella's car. Besides, I didn't expect the price to be that high since I was still a noob in 1/18 scale diecast collection!

About the price issue, it took me some time to get used to it... and the result? My wallet keeps on dieting while the cabinets keep swallowing more and more diecast cars. Here are some indoor shots of the Renault R25 from Fisichella.

Hi there, welcome to Jasonist Diecast World! A place where you can share your thoughts and ideas on diecast cars ranging from 1/43 to 1/12 scale sizes. Diecast photography is greatly recommended!

A brief introduction of myself. I'm a diecaster from Malaysia who used to collect diecast cars mostly in 1/18 scale. I love 1/18 scale diecasts coz of the larger size, steerable wheels and openable parts such as bonnets, doors etc. Most of my diecast car collection is made up of Autoart, some are Kyosho and Minichamps, while a few from Mondo Motors, Hotworks, Hotwheels, ERTL, Maisto, Bburago and Shelby Collectibles. The types of diecast cars I collect include Formula One, JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) streetcars, Euro Continental supercars & streetcars, American muscles, Japanese Super GT cars, FIA GT cars, DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), and World Rally Championship (WRC) cars. I like photography... and when diecasts meet photography, you can expect some indoor and outdoor diecast photoshoots from me, where I try my best in turning these diecast cars as real as possible.

There's a reason why I shift from a local diecast forum to this blog. After hanging around for a few years in LYN Malaysia, i guess it's time to begin my own diecast blog here. Having met a few authentic diecasters there such as RealCollector, Jchue73, Myke, just to name a few... However, it seems that LYN diecast thread is no longer a real diecast thread like it used to be. I can no longer find any appreciation on diecast cars and members are not willing to share their views and experiences regarding any diecast issues. As a result, many great diecasters have left the building and seek for other online diecast sources and forums.

Anyway, an end in LYN diecast thread means a new beginning in Blogspot. My intention in creating this blog is to call up authentic diecasters not only in Malaysia, but all over the world to share your diecast collections, photography and great ideas on how to maintain these marvellous masterpieces.
